Two weeks after the legislative elections, the municipality of Villa María announced a package of measures that includes a reduction in taxes and a downsizing of State areas. The provisions respond to the new political scenario left by La Libertad Avanza's resounding victory in the city. With this decision, the local Executive seeks to adapt to a social message that demanded lower taxes, less bureaucracy, and greater efficiency.
The mayor ordered that the tax reduction be incorporated into the 2026 Tariff Schedule, prioritizing sectors that generate formal employment. The measure will mainly affect industrial, commercial, and tourism ventures. According to municipal sources, the objective is to support the growth of private employment and improve regional competitiveness.
The electoral result of October 26 inevitably marked a turning point in local politics. Society clearly expressed its demand to reduce spending and reactivate the economy through the private sector. Municipal authorities acknowledge that management must be redirected toward a more austere and productive model.

Administrative restructuring and coordination with the national government
Together with the tax reduction, the municipality will begin an internal restructuring that will affect decentralized entities and municipal agencies. Among the planned changes are modifications in the Industrial Park, the Sports Agency, and the Wholesale Market. The purpose is to reduce costs and improve efficiency in service delivery.
Local authorities confirmed that the adjustments will be made within the framework of current national and provincial decrees. This way, Villa María aligns itself with the administrative reforms promoted by the national government. Coordination with the national government will be key to implementing the changes without affecting institutional operations.
The municipal strategy also contemplates the adaptation of its regulations to the economic reforms being debated in Congress. Once labor and tax laws are approved, the municipality will adapt its regulatory framework. The objective is to maintain coherence between local policies and the national direction.

New projects and political consequences
In parallel with the restructuring, the municipality confirmed the reactivation of the housing program together with Banco Hipotecario. The agreement will allow the recovery of more than six hundred lots from the Procrear plan that had not been executed. This initiative aims to promote private construction and address local housing demand.
The continuation of the public works plan was also announced, with an emphasis on road access and urban paving. The work includes improvements to the ring road, main avenues, and industrial areas. Despite the general adjustment, public works will remain active in the locality of Córdoba.
The measures adopted show a clear (and mandatory) political shift after the elections. Villa María seeks to adapt to a new social and economic climate that mirrors the efficiency and reduction of state spending of the national government. The message from the polls was resounding, and this time, the response came quickly from the municipality.
