The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced a deep restructuring of his government that includes the departure of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, in a decision aimed at adapting the state apparatus to a new phase of the war against Russia.
The leader explained that the remodeling aims to strengthen the political and economic coordination of the country, enhance cooperation with international allies, and accelerate Ukraine's response to the military and diplomatic challenges it faces.
Through a message disseminated on his Telegram channel, Zelensky confirmed that he will promote a renewal of the cabinet of ministers and other changes within state institutions to reorganize the responsibilities of the Executive. He explained that each of the main areas of foreign policy will be led by officials with specific experience, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of government management in a context marked by the continuation of the war.
Among the priorities mentioned by the president is the strengthening of cooperation with the United States, especially in defense matters. Zelensky referred to the need to maintain and expand coordination with Washington to ensure the supply of weapons and Patriot air defense systems, considered essential to counter the constant missile and drone attacks launched by Russia against Ukrainian territory.

The leader also emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen the relationship with the European Union, both politically and economically, and advancing in the European integration process promoted by Kiev. He also highlighted the need to open a new phase in relations with some neighboring countries, particularly Poland and Hungary, with which Ukraine has had differences on various issues in recent years.
In addition to Western alliances, Zelensky noted that his government will seek to strengthen dialogue with China and various countries in the Middle East as part of a strategy aimed at broadening international support for Ukraine and diversifying its diplomatic ties amid the conflict.
On the internal front, the president stated that the reorganization will also be aimed at improving the management of border regions and areas close to the combat front, where daily attacks by Russian forces continue to be recorded. Among the priorities, he mentioned increasing the production and supply of weapons for the armed forces, with special emphasis on drones, as well as preparing the country to face the upcoming winter, a period when energy infrastructure tends to become one of the main targets of Russian bombings.
Within that reorganization, the decision to relieve Yulia Svyrydenko constitutes the change with the greatest political impact. The economist had taken office as Prime Minister in July 2025 after serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, positions from which she played a central role in negotiations with Western allies.
Zelensky assured that he will change the officials of several ministries and highlighted the approach to the United States and the European Union while stating that he will focus on strengthening the relationship with China
The Administration of Yulia Svyrydenko
During her tenure at the head of the government, Svyrydenko led much of the discussions aimed at securing international financing for the Ukrainian state, participated in negotiations for the minerals agreement with the United States, and coordinated programs related to the country's reconstruction. She also headed the official Ukrainian delegation at the Reconstruction Conference held in Gdansk, where Kiev aimed to finalize around 160 agreements and mobilize more than 10 billion euros in investments and projects.
Her administration was marked by the attempt to preserve macroeconomic stability amid the war, promote reforms to simplify administrative procedures, and encourage the growth of the national defense industry with the goal of increasing domestic arms production.
Despite these results, various observers pointed out that Svyrydenko never managed to consolidate independent political leadership. Like her predecessor, Denys Shmyhal, many strategic decisions continued to be concentrated in the presidency, where Zelensky maintained strong control over state management since the onset of the Russian invasion.

During her time in government, she also faced scrutiny from opposition sectors related to potential conflicts of interest arising from her academic activities at the Kyiv School of Economics, although these controversies did not significantly alter her role as the main interlocutor with Brussels and Washington.
In announcing the remodeling, Zelensky publicly thanked Svyrydenko for her work and indicated that he offered her to take on a new responsibility related to international cooperation. Although he avoided revealing what that position will be, rumors in Kiev suggest that she could take on roles related to relations with the United States, one of Ukraine's main strategic partners.
The restructuring of the government reflects the intention of the Ukrainian president to strengthen the state's capacity to face a new stage of the conflict with Russia. With an active military front and a growing dependence on financial and military support from its allies, Zelensky aims to reorganize his government team to improve internal coordination, reinforce foreign policy, and ensure that Ukraine maintains the necessary international support to sustain the war effort and advance in the country's reconstruction plans
