The correísmo, represented by the Revolución Ciudadana (RC) bloc, failed in its attempt to influence key debates within the National Assembly. In its strategy, the RC tried to oversee the concession of the Sacha oil field and the alleged irregularities in the purchase of vests and helmets for the Armed Forces. However, Daniel Noboa's government managed to neutralize these actions before they had an impact.
Although the RC had convened the plenary to discuss these issues, it faced unexpected obstacles that deactivated its offensive.
The debate over the Sacha field lost relevance when it was revealed that the concession was never finalized. The companies involved did not pay the $1.5 billion premium on time, which led to a resolution rejecting the concession and sending the case to the State Comptroller's Office. Thus, the RC's effort to use the issue as a political attack against the government quickly deflated.
During the plenary session, legislator Valentina Centeno (ADN) harshly criticized the inefficiency of the Assembly, calling the discussion on Sacha a waste of time that did not contribute to the country's real legislative challenges.
