Córdoba will be the main stage to host the prestigious International Mathematical Olympiad that will take place during the upcoming year 2026. Between October 19 and 23 of that year, hundreds of students will put their analytical knowledge to the test in a high-level competition in this specific subject. This academic call seeks to highlight the importance of the exact sciences in the education of future professionals in the South American region.
The international event will bring together young people from the Atacama Region in Chile and representatives from various provinces in the center and north of our country. Delegations from Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Catamarca, and other jurisdictions that firmly support excellence and intellectual merit will participate. The meeting will allow students to share intensive learning experiences while they solve complex logical reasoning challenges.
The organization of these Olympiads promotes the development of essential cognitive skills that young people will later apply in their professional careers. Collaborative work and the resolution of technical problems are prioritized as central pillars to improve the competitiveness of each of the students. The province is thus consolidating itself as a strategic point of reference for holding events that reward effort and personal growth.

Commitment to merit and science
The Minister of Education of Córdoba, Horacio Ferreyra, emphasized that the choice of the venue is a recognition of the track record of local schools. The official stressed that these international instances enhance logical thinking and consolidate education as a real engine of development.
In addition to the competition, the schedule of activities includes various spaces intended for cultural exchange among the participating territories. The ties established during these days of coexistence strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the educational systems of Chile and Argentina. This type of coordinated initiative allows students with the best grade point averages to gain international exposure and high visibility.
The 2026 edition reaffirms the region's position as a scientific hub capable of hosting competitions of great rigor for the most talented young people. The leading role of the students will be the guiding principle of a week devoted entirely to fostering vocations for engineering and mathematics. With this competition, the aim is to raise the standard of educational quality in order to successfully face the challenges that the labor market currently imposes.
