Evo Morales warned that only the approval of his candidacy would stop the killings

The leader of Chapare demanded that the Legislative Assembly pass a law guaranteeing his participation in the elections

Amid the mourning for the murders recorded in Llallagua, Evo Morales demanded that the Legislative Assembly pass a law allowing him to run for office. He said that such a regulation would be the only way to stop the murders.

The former dictator held the Government responsible for the violence and called for the participation of all political actors to be guaranteed. His remarks were made on his Kawsachun Coca radio station. There, he avoided referring to the police officers killed by his armed militias.

Morales insisted that the repression stems from political persecution. He accused the security forces of using live ammunition during the operations to break up blockades.

According to his account, the weapons used came from the Miraflores General Headquarters. He also suggested that Luis Arce is indirectly responsible for the deaths. “There will continue to be deaths,” he stated.

During his monologue, Morales avoided condemning the attacks in Llallagua. Instead, he defended his armed criminals and described their actions as popular struggles. He said that he did not call for the blockades, but asserted that they are unstoppable.

He also claimed that he doesn't hold any positions in social organizations. However, he continues to identify himself as the leader of the “largest movement.”

The former dictator focused his speech on his disqualification and said that he is a victim of political proscription. He questioned the holding of the Multiparty Summit because he was not invited.

According to Morales, that event serves foreign interests. He pointed to the Civic Committee and an alleged "Harvard group."

In his remarks, Morales again suggested that the United States controls national politics. He claimed that the summit organizers committed to preventing his return to power.

He maintained that from abroad it was decided to block the return of the left to government. In this context, he called for dialogue and reconciliation to be prioritized. However, he made everything conditional on being allowed to run as a candidate.

Morales's proposal was supported by former officials and allied leaders. Former minister Javier Zabaleta described it as a “necessary political solution”. He stated that if the law is not passed, the consequences will be “terrible.”

Zabaleta warned that the situation has already gotten out of control and blamed the Government for not promoting solutions. He also emphasized that peace will only be achieved if all actors are included. He asserted that legal obstacles can be overcome with political will.

He also indicated that the Legislative Assembly has the duty to enable Morales's participation. He said that no relevant actor can be excluded. He called on the ruling party to act with “prudence.”

Meanwhile, protests and blockades continue in several regions. The clashes have left five people dead. Among them, four police officers and one community member.

Authorities claim that the operations are necessary to restore order. However, the Evista sectors insist that it is repression.

Morales briefly expressed solidarity with the families of the slain police officers. However, he avoided delving into those deaths, only saying that he never supported such actions. He did not directly condemn them and again attacked the Government for its actions.

In his speech, he also criticized Andrónico Rodríguez. He accused him of making deals to remain in the electoral race. He said that PAN-BOL, which had lent him its acronym, was annulled due to political agreements.

According to Morales, Rodríguez is part of the group that wants to eliminate him from the contest. That statement increased tensions within MAS.

The speeches of the individual accused of pedophilia have been interpreted by many as a form of pressure. The violence surrounding the protests appears to be used as a political argument.

Morales directly links peace to his candidacy. However, he evades responsibility for recent events. That ambiguity has caused alarm in several sectors.

The Government, so far, has not formally replied to the former dictator's proposal. The Multiparty Summit continues without Morales's presence. Meanwhile, the blockades persist and the country remains on edge.

The deaths in Llallagua marked a critical point in the crisis. The debate over Evo's candidacy continues to polarize the country.

Morales's calls for dialogue contrast with his lack of clear condemnation of the violence. While he demands to be allowed to run, the number of victims from the clashes continues to rise.

Justice has not yet captured those who killed the police officers in Llallagua. Nor has the role of the leaders in those actions been defined. Tensions do not seem to be easing.

The former president's stance has been questioned by analysts and activists. They consider that using violence as an argument to enable a candidacy is risky.

The former dictator Evo Morales is accused of blackmailing the country with more deaths if he is not allowed to run. That narrative, they say, is incompatible with a democratic system. It leaves the Assembly in a delicate position.
