Rodrigo Paz proposed approving the credits for Luis Arce's masista regime

The parliamentarian's measure would benefit Masismo, which is currently in urgent need of obtaining dollars

Senator Rodrigo Paz, from Comunidad Ciudadana, announced this Monday his conditions for approving the credits requested by Luis Arce's government. Paz indicated that he would commit to supporting international loans as long as the president declines reelection and emphasized that Arce should not resign or leave the country. The objective of these conditions is to prevent resources from being diverted toward political interests.

Paz explained that the proposal of these conditions is the need to ensure that the credits are not used in political campaigns. He stated that, if the president insists on his candidacy, the funds could be misused. Paz's proposal is that the resources be allocated solely to address urgent problems of the population, otherwise, the use of the credits could increase the economic crisis.

The senator also recalled that when Arce was Minister of Economy, more than 14 billion dollars of the International Reserves were spent. According to Paz, this expenditure should be justified by the president, Arce must be accountable before requesting more international credits. Otherwise, the government would not be showing financial responsibility.

Meanwhile, Paz stated that he is not asking for Arce's resignation as president, but he is asking for guarantees about his permanence in the country. He indicated that this is essential to ensure transparency in the use of resources and insisted that political stability is crucial to solving the crisis. The president must stay until completing his term and ensure the transition to the next government.

Paz emphasized that his conditions are not blackmail, but a necessity to ensure that the funds reach the citizens, because any loan must be managed with responsibility and transparency. Additionally, he insisted that international credits should be used to improve the people's situation and not for personal interests. This stance has been supported by other opposition sectors that consider accountability urgent.

President Luis Arce, meanwhile, has defended the need for these credits to alleviate the lack of liquidity in the Bolivian economy. On several occasions, he has pointed out that the approval of the credits would allow solving problems like fuel shortages and the execution of works. However, the Legislative Assembly has repeatedly blocked the approval of the credits, which has caused tensions between the Executive and the Legislative.

Arce's government has also faced criticism for the fuel crisis affecting the country. The fuel shortage has caused long lines at service stations and an increase in basic basket prices. Faced with this situation, the government has adopted emergency measures, but many consider these insufficient to solve the crisis definitively.

In that sense, the Minister of Planning, Sergio Cusicanqui, has asked legislators to approve the international credits. According to Cusicanqui, the delay of these loans is affecting the government's ability to manage key projects for the economy. Additionally, he recalled that the government has already managed the loan contracts, but their final approval depends on the Legislative Assembly.

Despite the criticisms, the mayor of El Alto, Eva Copa, has also defended the need for the credits. Copa explained that the credits are essential to ensure the supply of fuel and other essential resources. She assured that the Bolivian economy needs these funds to avoid a greater collapse and asked the assembly members to reflect on the importance of approving them.

Senator Paz, however, doesn't look favorably on the mayor's stance. According to him, the government should prioritize the people's needs before seeking more international credits. In his opinion, the current government has demonstrated a lack of efficiency in resource management and added that the citizens are tired of promises without real solutions.

Despite the government's efforts to force the approval of the credits, the Legislative Assembly continues to block their approval. This has caused a political conflict between the Executive and the legislators. Some argue that the credits should not be approved without a thorough review of the proposed projects.

Finally, Luis Arce has warned that the blocking of the credits only harms the Bolivian people. According to the masista leader, the credits are necessary to improve the economic situation and ensure the supply of resources. However, tensions between the government and the opposition continue, while the economic and social crisis continues to affect the population.
