Evo Morales was proclaimed in Bulo Bulo with an evident division among his bases.
Without acronym: The former dictator Evo Morales continues with his unconstitutional aspirations to undermine the electoral process
Evo Morales was proclaimed a presidential candidate in a union event held this Saturday in Bulo Bulo, the activity took place at Carlos Villegas stadium. The call came from the Mamoré Bulo Bulo Federation, led by the president of the Senate, Andrónico Rodríguez. However, his absence was noticeable and caused discomfort among the leaders present, some of them demanded his attendance as a gesture of organic unity.
Rodríguez, considered for years as a political protégé of Morales, chose not to participate. Despite being part of the event's organization, he neither appeared nor sent a public statement.
In the stadium, some banners promoted his own candidacy, reflecting the internal fracture of MAS. Meanwhile, Morales's followers proclaimed him as the "only legitimate leader." The tension between Evistas and Arcistas was once again exposed.
During his speech, Morales denounced a conspiracy that, according to him, seeks to stop his candidacy. He accused the "imperial power," the right-wing, and the media of being allied with the Arce Government. He assured that these forces intend to prevent popular sectors from regaining power and promised they would govern again with more strength.
The former dictator also defended his disastrous 14-year administration, claiming it gave hope and future through the so-called democratic and cultural revolution. He insisted that his political rights are fully in force. He reiterated that he already has a party symbol to run, although he did not reveal the name, citing security reasons to keep it reserved.
Morales thanked the support of the unions from the Cochabamba tropics and acknowledged the protection provided by the Bulo Bulo Federation. This amid the arrest warrant against him, issued by a judge in Tarija. The coca leader faces charges of human trafficking, he assured he is not afraid of being arrested.
He asked his followers to stop holding vigils, although he said he respects their decision. "I don't care if I'm arrested," he expressed on stage. He added that union power was capable of changing laws in the past and stated emphatically that "The right-wing will not return."
The proclamation was made without a defined political party for his candidacy, Morales lost control of MAS and created Evo Pueblo in March. Since then, he has not announced with which symbol he will run in the elections. However, he assured his bases that it is already guaranteed and indicated that he will reveal it at the right time.
Does Morales understand that his support is waning?

The opposition reacted harshly after the proclamation event, several legislators reminded that Morales is disqualified from running. Deputy Beto Astorga cited the Constitutional Court's ruling and the opinion of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. In his view, Morales is "wasting time" on campaign activities and added that he must prepare to answer to justice.
Alejandro Reyes, also from the opposition, expressed a similar opinion and said that the proclamation is an empty act without legal validity. He assured that Morales's candidacy will be rejected in May. "They are wasting time and money on something that will not prosper," he noted and questioned the use of union resources for electoral purposes.
The speeches at the event revolved around the unity of the coca growers, with phrases like "Evo or nobody" and "The right-wing will not return." Morales appeared confident and said he will win with more than 60% of the votes. He also warned about a possible return of the "zero coca" policy and stated that his victory will prevent forced eradication.
Despite the support received, signs of division were evident, Rodríguez's absence was interpreted as an internal challenge. Some sectors consider him a possible presidential candidate. Although he has ruled out that option, the struggle with the Evistas intensifies, the federations are far from reaching a consensus.
Morales himself said he was "surprised" by the crowd that attended the proclamation and compared it to sports events in the same stadium. He mentioned that the coca growers filled the venue like never before and also warned that if they lose the elections, the country will return to repressive policies. To avoid this, he called for total unity at the grassroots.
Meanwhile, the Prosecutor's Office continues to investigate the former president for serious crimes, since October there has been an arrest warrant that the Police have not executed. Morales has not left the tropics since November of last year. His followers organize vigils to prevent his capture.
Evo Morales once again challenges constitutional limits, despite the rulings of the Constitutional Court and the opinion of the Inter-American Court. The former dictator insists on an unconstitutional candidacy, his proclamation and his silence about the symbol that will support him only increase doubts about the impartiality of the country's democratic system.
