The Ecuador Electric Corporation (Celec EP) and the company Sinohydro Corporation signed the Final Receipt Act of the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric project, considered the largest in the country with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts

.

The event took place on April 17, 2026 and marks the formal closing of a contractual process that had been pending for more than a decade, consolidating the Government's energy roadmap.

The authorities indicated that this step is carried out within the framework of an international arbitral award and does not imply the loss of State control over the infrastructure, which

remains under Ecuadorian governance.

With this definitive reception, the project continues as one of the pillars of the national electricity system, providing key energy for the country's stability.
