Production rose to 26 million cubic feet per day and will save USD 128 million in diesel imports
The public company PetroEcuador reported that the Amistad field achieved a historic increase in natural gas production, going from 17 to 26 million cubic feet per day after reconditioning work on the wells.
The increase in production will generate an estimated savings of 128 million dollars by replacing diesel imports destined for electricity generation, strengthening national energy sustainability.
In addition, production is projected to continue to grow to 90 million cubic feet per day in 2027, which would cover the energy consumption of approximately one and a half million
Ecuadorian homes.The extracted gas is mainly destined for the industrial sector and the Termogas Machala power plant, contributing to the country's electricity supply and reducing dependence on more expensive fuels.
