The National Assembly elected authorities for eleven of the fifteen permanent commissions, with a clear dominance of Acción Democrática Nacional (ADN), the ruling movement led by President Daniel Noboa. Of those eleven, seven are directly chaired by ADN legislators and four with support from independent allies. With 78 votes, the Plenary approved the formation of the commissions last Friday, May 16. Assemblyman Ferdinan Álvarez, now deputy coordinator of ADN, proposed the motion that was supported by legislators from Pachakutik (PK) and independent benches, consolidating a functional majority for the Executive.
The Oversight and Political Control commission will be led by Ferdinan Álvarez, with Nathaly Morillo as vice president. In Economic Regime, Nathaly Farinango and Adrián Castro lead efforts to organize the State's finances. These appointments reinforce Noboa's commitment to a technical and responsible management.
In the area of Economic Development, Valentina Centeno assumed the presidency, accompanied by Diego Franco. The female presence was also strengthened with Camila León Cueva in Biodiversity and Lucía Jaramillo in International Relations. These figures represent a new political generation, focused on results and distanced from the Correa era.
Despite having 67 seats, the Revolución Ciudadana (RC) was relegated to commissions without political weight, such as Childhood or Constitutional Guarantees. This distribution is reminiscent of 2013, when Correa's movement grouped its critics into "refrigerator" commissions. Today, Correa's movement experiences its own institutional isolation.
