Niels Olsen, president of the National Assembly, ordered the unblocking of citizens censored on the official social media of the Legislature. The decision marked a shift toward a more open, participatory, and transparent institutionality. This act, which is part of the early days of his administration, has been interpreted as a clear message about the intention to promote a more inclusive democracy from the legislative body.
"Never again an Assembly that turns its back on the people or blocks their voice," Olsen expressed on his X account. The message was part of a series of actions aimed at building a more direct relationship with the citizenry, strengthening public trust in the institution. According to legislative spokespersons, this openness is also expected to be reflected in mechanisms for citizen consultation, access to public information, and digital participation.
The Assembly confirmed that restrictions preventing certain users from accessing institutional accounts, such as X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, were removed. The measure was implemented to ensure equal access to official information channels, allowing any citizen to interact, express opinions, and stay informed without barriers imposed by past decisions of social media administrators.
