President Daniel Noboa attended the inauguration ceremony of Pope León XIV's pontificate in Vatican City on Saturday, May 17, 2025. The solemn event marked the beginning of the new pontiff's spiritual leadership.
Through Executive Decree No. 631, the Head of State declared the official delegation accompanying him on this international trip as on official duty. The trip took place between May 16 and 18, with the corresponding logistical and budgetary support.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Gabriela Sommerfeld, was part of the delegation along with key officials such as the Undersecretary of Protocol, the Director of Photography, the Head of Security, and the Presidential Air Aide-de-Camp, Lieutenant Colonel Danilo Villena.
According to the decree, all per diems and expenses arising from the trip were covered by the budget of the institutions to which the members of the delegation belong. This provision ensures efficiency without compromising extraordinary resources.
