President Dina Boluarte requested permission to attend Daniel Noboa's inauguration.
The Peruvian executive highlighted the cooperation ties with Ecuador to justify the trip
The President of Peru, Dina Boluarte, requested authorization from Congress to travel to Ecuador and attend the inauguration of President Daniel Noboa, scheduled for May 24. The request was submitted on May 20 by the Executive Branch, with the intention that the permission covers May 23 and 24.
The document argues that the trip responds to the ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations. If approved, Boluarte would maintain her functions remotely, through digital platforms with cybersecurity support, according to the official statement from the Peruvian government.
The inauguration of Daniel Noboa symbolizes a change of institutional direction in Ecuador, after months of intense challenges in security and governance. The event has attracted the interest of several regional leaders, reflecting international recognition of Ecuador's democratic transition.
Amid an active international agenda, Boluarte had already traveled to Rome to attend the enthronement of Pope León XIV. This new trip highlights the relevance that Ecuador is gaining on the regional stage under Noboa's upcoming administration.

Meanwhile, Boluarte faces internal questioning over her recent travels, attending the event in Quito reinforces a signal of support for the new Ecuadorian government. Peru and Ecuador share a long history of integration, with treaties in commercial, environmental, and border security matters.
The visit of the Peruvian leader also seeks to project stability and collaboration at a time when the region needs solid alliances in the face of common challenges such as transnational crime and migration. In this context, Noboa's figure has caused expectations for his technocratic approach and anti-crisis reforms.
The Peruvian Congress will have to debate and vote on the request in the coming days. According to the Executive, Boluarte's presence in Quito is a show of support for the democratic and integration values promoted by the Andean Community.
Boluarte's possible attendance at Daniel Noboa's inauguration reflects the consolidation of Ecuadorian leadership in the region. The new president represents a democratic and pragmatic alternative, and his inauguration opens new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in a challenging continental context.
