Correísmo used the Assembly to hit Noboa in the middle of the electoral campaign.

Legislative committees controlled by RC activate investigations with political purposes.

Five weeks before the presidential runoff, the Correa-aligned bloc in the National Assembly has intensified its agenda of selective oversight against the Government of Daniel Noboa. Using their majority in the Justice and Oversight commissions, they have opened investigations into issues aimed at undermining the Executive's image, a strategy that coincides with the electoral process where Luisa González is trying to position herself.

The Correa-aligned majority commissions have targeted three cases: Petronoboa, the purchase of vests for the Armed Forces, and the concession of the Sacha oil field.

Although these issues have already been addressed in other legislative instances, the Citizen Revolution insists on duplicating processes to keep them in the public eye and create the perception of irregularities.

The Petronoboa case, where a relative of the president is accused without evidence, has been investigated by the Security Commission for months. However, the Justice Commission, dominated by Correa's supporters, has attempted to take control of the process to give it a media spin. The same occurs with the purchase of military vests, where the Minister of Defense has already appeared before the Assembly, but RC legislators insist on opening new debate spaces with the same purpose.

Pro-government assembly member Adrián Castro denounced that these actions respond to a political agenda of Correa's supporters, as they know that polls place Daniel Noboa five points ahead of Luisa González. "What they seek is to position constructs and sow doubts among people, because they know that in the Prosecutor's Office they have no evidence to support their claims," he stated.

The case of the Sacha oil field is another example. The Government has explained that the concession is not a privatization, but a strategy to attract investment and generate revenues of more than $1.5 billion. However, Correa's supporters insist on labeling it as a "heist," distorting information to delegitimize Noboa's economic decisions.

Meanwhile, the RC bloc focuses on attacking the Government, avoiding commenting on corruption cases that marked past socialist governments.

Bribes | La Derecha Diario

There is no legislative initiative to investigate the bribery scandals of the Correa decade, nor the public funds that disappeared in failed projects. Oversight is used as an electoral tool, not as a true exercise of transparency.

In this situation, analysts warn that Correa's strategy seeks to confuse voters before the election. Without clear proposals for the country, socialism and Luisa González resort to disinformation and manipulation to try to weaken their main opponent, Daniel Noboa, who continues to consolidate as the best option for Ecuador's future.
