Almost four months after his capture in the framework of the so-called “Operation Absolute Resolution”, former Venezuelan narco-terrorist dictator Nicolás Maduro is still being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center, in New York, where he faces judicial proceedings for serious causes related to drug trafficking and terrorism.
In this context, according to different reports, Maduro's mental health continues to worsen. He is currently staying in unit 4 North, under a shared cell regime, where the beds are grouped together and do not have pillows
.
In this environment, their daily routine is carried out with marked limitations, including showers with little privacy and small spaces.
Information about his life inside the prison was released by The New Yorker based on the testimony of rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was being held in the same prison. According to his story, he was a short distance from the Venezuelan and described the conditions of the place and his behavior

The situation of Maduro
In this context, the musician said that when Maduro arrived he “smelled terrible” and explained: “I didn't want to bother him or seem euphoric”, recalling his coexistence in the unit
.
Inside the ward, meals are distributed in trolleys and there is a small room for detainees to communicate with their lawyers. The general conditions of the prison have been repeatedly pointed out because of their harshness, with high levels of control and little comfort for prisoners
.
One of the most striking aspects of the former dictator's daily life is his reading habits. According to the testimony collected, he devotes much of his time to reading religious texts, especially different versions of the Bible. “Read all the Bibles,” said the rapper, adding: “Just when I left, I was reading the Chinese Bible. He reads them all and compares them.”
In addition, at night, Maduro suffers from insomnia and stars in crazy episodes from his cell. In that sense, he is heard shouting: “I am the president of Venezuela! Tell my country that I have been kidnapped! ”.
The former president is facing charges of conspiracy for narco-terrorism, importing cocaine and possession of machine guns and destructive devices. In addition, together with his wife, he is accused of ordering kidnappings and murders against people linked to drug trafficking debts or who interfered with his operations.
As the judicial process progresses in the United States, the situation of Maduro inside the prison continues to generate international repercussions, especially because of his striking behavior inside the cell.
