Israeland Lebanon agreed to a 10-dayceasefire that will begin tonight, in an attempt to de-escalate tension on the common border following a series of recent clashes between Israeli forces and the terrorist group Hezbollah.
The announcement was made by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, after holding talks with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun.

Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and Joseph Aoun.
The US president described as “excellent” the talks held with both leaders, which took place just two days after a peace meeting held in Washington D.C. That meeting, the first between representatives of
Israel and Lebanon in more than three decades, allowed the reopening ofa diplomatic channel
that led to the current temporary agreement.
In this framework, Trump instructed his vice president, JD Vance, the Secretary of State,Marco Rubio, and the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, to work in a coordinated manner with both countries to move towards a broader understanding that would allow the consolidation of a “lasting peace”.
In addition, the president announced that he will invite Netanyahu and Aoun to the White House to deepen negotiations. As he highlighted, these are the first significant talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, which reinforces the relevance of the diplomatic process initiated
. Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump also remarked that both sides “want peace” and expressed optimism that this ceasefire could become the basis for a definitive agreement in the region. Along these lines, he once again vindicated the role of his administration in the mediation of international conflicts
.
“I have had the honor of solving nine wars around the world, and this will be the tenth, so let's get to work! “, concluded the American president.
The announcement came in a context of growing tension, where the terrorist group Hezbollah previously tried to frustrate the rapprochement between the two countries, posing challenges for consolidating the cessation of hostilities.
Despite this, the agreement marks a significant step forward in the reactivation of dialogue between Israel and Lebanon, with the United States as a central actor in the search for a diplomatic solution.
