President Donald Trump honored the memory of the four American servicemen who lost their lives in the war against Iran and whose remains were returned to their families at Dover Air Force Base, located in the state of Delaware.
This ritual represents one of the most emotional duties for a commander in chief, and it is the third ceremony of this kind that Trump has attended since the war broke out in February. The president described the event as "one of the hardest things to do as president" and left a message for the families of the fallen: "We love them. We love their son."
"There are no speculations or games of any kind here: it is their son. And all you can do is open your heart to them," Trump expressed, who was accompanied by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and several U.S. senators.
During the ceremony, the caskets covered with the American flag carrying the remains of the fallen soldiers are transported from the military aircraft to the vehicles waiting to take them to the base morgue. There, the staff prepares the remains of the servicemen for their final rest.
