A former school principal in the US who mocked the death of Charlie Kirk was convicted of sharing child pornography

A former high school principal in the United States was sentenced to five years and one month in prison after being found guilty of possessing and sharing child sexual abuse material.

This is Jeremy P. Williams, 50, a resident of Longview, Washington, who had held management roles in an educational institution in Oregon.

Williams worked as principal of Rainier Junior/Senior High School, located in the state of Oregon, a position he held since 2022, according to school board minutes.

His employment situation was already compromised before his arrest, as he had been placed on paid administrative leave after making mocking comments related to the murder of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

The investigation against Williams Williams'

arrest came in September, following an investigation that began on the basis of automatic alerts generated by different social media platforms

As explained at the time by the Deputy Chief of the Cowlitz County Criminal Division, Troy Brightbill, authorities detected the exchange of sexually explicit images of minors from an IP address directly linked to the defendant.

The case progressed to judicial instances, where the items collected during the investigation were exposed. A journalist for the local Longview Daily Chronicle reported that, during the hearing held on February 23, Williams offered a “barely audible” apology

to the court.

In that same context, it was noted that the defendant had previously stated that he had received awards for his writing of

erotic fiction.

Finally, Judge Thad Scudder, of the Cowlitz County Superior Court, handed down the sentence that establishes a sentence of five years and one month in prison. In addition, he ordered that Williams be registered as a sex offender, a common measure in this type of crime in the US judicial system

The court ruling also included economic sanctions and measures after serving the sentence. In this regard, the former director must pay $3,000 in court costs and will be subject to a three-year probation period once his prison sentence has ended.
