The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Saturday morning the cancellation of the trip of his special diplomatic envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Pakistan to negotiate with officials of the Iranian regime.
The president argued, in a post on his Truth Social network, that holding the summit is a waste of time and work, and described what he called “internal” and “confusion” within the Iranian leadership. “I just canceled the trip of my representatives to Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians. Too much time wasted traveling, too much work! In addition, there are tremendous interns and confusion within their 'leadership'. Nobody knows who's in charge, not even them.”
Trump closed his statement by saying that “we have all the cards and they have none” and that, if the Islamic regime wants to talk, “all they have to do is call”.
