The president warned his party's senators to eliminate the filibuster before the Democrats.

President Donald Trump this week urged Republican senators to eliminate the filibuster (the tactic used to obstruct parliamentary procedure) in order to pass the Save America Act, a law that, if passed, would require proof of citizenship to register to vote.
Trump took to his social network Truth Social to share his message with the senators of his party. “How much abuse can the Republican Senate endure from the lunatics of the radical left in the form of Democratic senators, before they EXPLODE (FINISH!) THE FILIBUSTER, and pass things at a record pace, including the Save America Act, something that would be unthinkable without the termination of the filibuster???” , he wrote.
“The Democrats will do it in the first hour of their first day. DON'T BE STUPID!!! “, warned the president. Two ruling senators, Rick Scott from Florida and Mike Lee from Utah, are pressuring their Republican colleagues to eliminate the filibuster and allow a simple majority (with which the Republican Party currently has in the Senate) to determine the future of the Save America Act
.
“Democrats will not fund DHS (Department of Homeland Security). They will not pass the SAVE America Act. They don't care about the country,” Scott wrote, agreeing with the president. “If we want to achieve SOMETHING for the American people, we need to EXPLODE the filibuster and get to work
,” he added. Trump called on Republican senators to end the filibuster to pass the Save America Act
The law has popular support
. The above-mentioned law would require citizens to present proof of citizenship when registering to vote and would implement voter identification (the so-called Voter ID).
The legislation would also put an end to the mass and universal issuance of ballots by mail, which were used by Democrats in recent years to commit voter fraud
.
The Save America Act also includes measures to legally protect women's sports and a ban on transgender surgery for children, issues that Trump has already addressed through executive action during his first year in office.
The bill has broad support around the United States. A survey conducted by the Harvard-Harris pollster found that 61% of Democrats, 90% of Republicans and 73% of Independents support the requirement of proof of citizenship to vote. In addition, this same group of voters believes that voting should be exclusive to US citizens.
