The president did not provide details on how a potential oil agreement with Tehran would work nor explained if the possibility would include the permanent deployment of U.S. troops.
Trump defended the idea as part of a policy aimed at protecting U.S. interests and ensuring access to strategic energy resources. Referring to Venezuela, he stated that the revenues obtained by Washington from Venezuelan oil have significantly offset the costs of the war.
The president's stance comes after more than six months of U.S. military operations against the terrorist regime of Iran, initiated with the goal of curbing Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
