Donald Trump once again had a heated exchange with the American press during an interview with Kristen Welker on the Meet the Press program on NBC, after being persistently pressed about his allegations of electoral fraud in the United States. The president ended up leaving the interview after accusing the network and its host of acting with bias, malice, and media corruption.
The exchange occurred when Welker questioned Trump about his claims regarding the 2020 presidential elections and the vote counting in California. Far from backing down in the face of the journalistic operation, the president insisted that there was electoral manipulation and maintained that the same problem would be repeating itself currently.
“The elections were manipulated. They were dirty elections and it is happening again in California,” Trump stated during the interview, referring to the unusual direction the electoral process is taking in the state. The journalist responded that sufficient evidence had never been presented to prove fraud in the elections, but the Republican pointed directly at the delays in the California counting.
“Right now look at what is happening in California. Let me tell you, it’s been four days and they are not even close,” Trump noted, referring to the slow counting process. When Welker stated that this was the usual way California counts votes, the president sharply replied: “Because they are committing fraud.”
