Donald Trump: 'The hostages will only return when Hamas is destroyed'

The President of the United States once again insisted on increasing military pressure against the terrorists to free the hostages

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, warned that the release of the hostages who remain in Hamas's hands in Gaza will only be possible if the organization is "confronted and destroyed".

In a message posted on his social network Truth Social, Trump was categorical: "We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed. The sooner this happens, the greater the chances of success!"

The president used his statement to recall his own record in the Middle East.

He claimed to have secured the release of "hundreds of hostages in Israel and the United States" during his previous term, and credited himself with ending "six wars in just six months."

He even asserted that he "annihilated Iran's nuclear facilities," concluding with a defiant message: "You have to play to win, or not play at all".

Trump's statements coincide with a new diplomatic effort in the region.

According to the Qatari network Al-Araby TV, the latest round of talks between Qatar's prime minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, representatives of Palestinian factions, and Egypt's intelligence chief, Abbas Kamel, was described as "positive."

Qatar presented an updated ceasefire proposal in Cairo, developed together with Egypt.

Meanwhile, while several Palestinian factions have already given their approval, Hamas's delegation requested additional time to evaluate the terms.

The dual approach—military pressure and mediation attempts—reflects the current climate in the conflict. On one hand, Trump emphasizes that without a decisive defeat of Hamas there will be no progress in the release of hostages. On the other, regional mediators insist that a negotiated agreement could open the door to a truce and humanitarian relief in Gaza.

With the families of the hostages awaiting every announcement, the tension between rhetoric of force and diplomacy intensifies, leaving the question in the air as to whether the release will be the result of negotiation or confrontation.
