Massacre in Guanajuato: A terrorist armed commando opened fire on a sports field
Seven dead and five injured after attack in Salamanca; unstoppable violence
On the night of March 16, an armed commando stormed a sports field in the community of San José de Mendoza, Salamanca, Guanajuato, opening fire on players and spectators.
The attack left seven dead and five injured, once again highlighting the security crisis plaguing the country.

Terror on the field
The assailants fired at least 50 times at those present. Four people died on the spot, while eight others were taken to the hospital, where three more died due to the severity of their injuries.
Among the victims are minors, which has caused deep outrage among the population.

Guanajuato, another state engulfed in violence
This new attack is just one of many that have shaken Guanajuato in recent weeks. The state has become another red zone of violence in Mexico, with multiple massacres showing the impunity with which criminal groups operate.
Guanajuato joins other states like Edomex, Sinaloa, and Veracruz, as one of the most violent due to organized crime that hasn't been combated by federal law enforcement. Just in February, attacks in Irapuato, Cortázar, and Apaseo el Alto left dozens dead.

A government unable to guarantee security
The misgovernment is evident: the "hugs, not bullets" strategy of López Obrador and maintained by Claudia Sheinbaum, has utterly failed, leaving citizens at the mercy of organized crime.
Instead of strengthening security and protecting the population, the ruling party continues to downplay the crisis and prioritize the president's popularity.
Guanajuato mourns its victims while the government remains unresponsive. How many more must die before the State fulfills its duty to guarantee peace and justice?
