Advíncula will remain at Boca despite São Paulo's interest and the list of expendable players.
The Peruvian full-back was tempted by Brazil, but after speaking with Riquelme, he decided to stay at the La Ribera club
Since Boca returned to Buenos Aires after its brief stint at the Club World Cup, the management has focused its efforts on a transfer market that promises several moves, both incoming and outgoing. In this scenario, Luis Advíncula has emerged as one of the candidates to leave before the start of the Torneo Clausura.
Xeneize has already completed a week of training after a few days of rest. This period allowed Miguel Ángel Russo to draw conclusions about the squad ahead of the second half of the season. As a result, the coach submitted to the Football Council a list of 13 players considered expendable and permitted to negotiate their departure.

Within that group, Advíncula received an offer to join São Paulo during this transfer window. Although the right back had not planned to change clubs in the short term, Russo's stance may have been key for the talks to progress in favor of the Brazilian team.
Despite this, the Peruvian had a conversation with Juan Román Riquelme to inform him about the offer and his opinion on the matter. According to various sources, after that discussion both parties agreed that the defender will remain at Boca, confirming that Advíncula will continue under Russo's orders for the remainder of the year.

The right back position, a concern for Russo
Although he has been in charge of the team for a short time, Russo identified problems on the right side after what he saw at the Club World Cup. While Advíncula started in all three matches Boca played in the group stage, the coach was not satisfied with the performance of the right flank.
Within the position, for now the Peruvian keeps an advantage over his competitors, but both Lucas Blondel and Juan Barinaga appear as serious alternatives. In fact, Russo constantly evaluates them in formal training sessions and specific drills.
