Through an operation by the Provincial Police, ahead of the match between Independiente and Rosario Central, more than 200 members of the "Los Diablos Rojos" faction were arrested for public intimidation. Among those detained was the former leader of Independiente's barra brava, Pablo "Bebote" Álvarez, who has been in custody for two weeks.
In this context, the well-known barra recently reported that he has been on a hunger strike for seven days as a demand for the justice system to summon him to testify. According to a recorded message from his cell phone in a Melchor Romero detention center, he has been requesting an inquiry since last week, but he has not yet received a response. "I hope they transfer me to testify for the rights I have," he stated.
Álvarez explained that his protest has already affected his health: "I have gone four days without eating solids and three without liquids. I am fine, a bit weak and thinner," he noted.
