Chiquito's farewell marked the beginning of a restructuring at Xeneize, and there are more than 10 names that could leave the club
The farewell of Sergio "Chiquito" Romero not only marked the end of his time at Boca, but also the starting point for a deep renewal within the squad. The goalkeeper, who has already agreed to join Argentinos Juniors to replace the injured Ruso Rodríguez, left behind a cycle with ups and downs and opened the door to a sweeping overhaul.
At the Ribera club, they anticipate ten to twelve departures over the coming months, whether due to expiring contracts, ending loans, or players who could be sold to generate revenue. The board and the coaching staff, led by Claudio Úbeda, are looking to reduce the squad and reshape it for 2026, with a shorter and more competitive core.
Among the first to leave the club are Cristian Lema, Frank Fabra, and Ignacio Miramón, who will become free agents or will have to return to their parent clubs at the end of the year. In Miramón's case, the loan with French clubLille expires in December, while the two defenders will end their contracts with their transfer rights in hand.

Several other players could join them, as Boca intends to sell or loan out those who are not a priority for the coaching staff, and Exequiel Zeballos tops the list. Chango has lost ground and playing time, and the club is considering transferring him before he enters the final year of his contract. The same applies to Agustín Martegani, Lucas Janson, Luis Advíncula, and Lucas Blondel, who are seeking more playing time and could move on if offers arise.

From Peru, there have been reports of Alianza Lima's interest in Advíncula, although there have not been any formal contacts yet. Meanwhile, several young players such as Camilo Rey Domenech, Mateo Mendia, Joaquín Ruiz, and Santiago Dalmasso could also be loaned out to gain minutes with other teams.
Finally, Javier García's situation also remains unsolved. The goalkeeper is under contract until December 2025, but it is possible that Boca will strengthen the goalkeeping position in 2026, which could lead to an early departure for the experienced shot-stopper.
