After three weeks hospitalized, Jair Bolsonaro was discharged and left the hospital.
The former president of Brazil was discharged after undergoing numerous surgeries, resulting from the attack he received in 2018
The former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, was discharged this Sunday after being hospitalized for three weeks at the private DF Star clinic in Brasília.
The right-wing leader, 70 years old, was admitted on April 12 and operated on the 13th for a severe intestinal obstruction, a complication stemming from the stabbing he suffered during a campaign event in 2018.
This was the seventh surgery related to that attack, and according to his doctors, the most complex to date, lasting approximately 12 hours. The intervention served to unblock the bowels and reconstruct the abdominal wall.
After spending 17 days in the intensive care unit, Bolsonaro was transferred to the hospitalization area last Wednesday. His progress was favorable: he stopped experiencing pain and fever, his blood pressure remained stable, and the doctors suspended his intravenous feeding thanks to the good tolerance to a soft diet orally.

On Sunday, upon leaving the hospital, he did so walking on his own, smiling and greeting a group of supporters who awaited him with cheers and shouts of "myth!", the nickname with which his followers revere him.
Through his social media, Bolsonaro thanked the doctors and expressed his gratitude to God for what he considered a "miracle," assuring he felt "renewed" and ready to return home. He also anticipated that his "next challenge" will be to participate in a political rally scheduled for next Wednesday in Brasília.
This rally aims to pressure Congress to approve an amnesty bill intended to benefit those convicted for the demonstrations in front of Brazilian democratic institutions that occurred on January 8, 2023.

At the end of March this year, the Supreme Federal Court decided to illegally bring Bolsonaro to trial for his alleged role in organizing that attempted coup.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the former president allegedly led a plot to prevent the peaceful transfer of power and maintain his mandate despite the electoral defeat. However, the evidence of electoral fraud carried out by the Workers' Party has been overwhelming.
If found guilty, it would be the first trial of a Brazilian former president for attempted coup since the restoration of democracy.
Meanwhile, as he physically recovers, Bolsonaro thus faces a delicate judicial landscape marked by a cruel political persecution. The national attention remains divided between the former president's medical recovery and the false legal accusations against him.
