River continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the most prestigious youth academies in world football, and one of its new prospects has already attracted interest in Europe. According to SkySport from Germany, Borussia Dortmund sent representatives to Argentina to closely monitor Juan Cruz Meza, a forward from Corrientes who is only 17 years old.
The representatives from the German club, managed by Niko Kovac, took advantage of their stay in the country to watch the young player in action, although they were only able to attend Reserve division matches. The European outlet highlighted the striker's offensive versatility and revealed that other clubs on the continent might also be interested in signing him.
Trained in River's youth system, Meza made his debut in the first round of the Torneo Clausura against Platense and then started against Instituto and Lanús, totaling eight appearances in the First Division under the guidance of Marcelo Gallardo. However, he has not been drafted again since the match against Unión in the Copa Argentina, last August 28.
