Another massive explosion at a gunpowder factory shakes Iran
A massive explosion was reported at an explosives manufacturing company in the Iranian province of Isfahan, in the center of the country
On Tuesday, April 29, an explosion at the explosive manufacturing company Ava Nar Parsian Chemical Industries, located in the central province of Isfahan, Iran, left at least one person dead and two injured with burns.
The blast occurred at 10:30 a.m. in a warehouse of the company located in the city of Meymeh, according to Mansour Shisheforoush, the provincial government's director general of disaster management.
Emergency teams, including firefighters and the Red Crescent, were quickly deployed to the scene, and the injured were transported to nearby medical centers. The warehouse structure was damaged, especially the roof, and the causes of the incident are still under investigation.

Ava Nar Parsian is one of the leading Iranian companies dedicated to the manufacture of industrial explosives, including more than 50 types of fireworks, hunting powder, and mining materials.
It operates under the supervision of the Supreme National Security Council, the highest Iranian authority on security issues. Official documents reveal that certain decisions within the company are under the control of the ''Intelligence Protection Organization for the Management of Weapons and Ammunition of the province of Isfahan'', which reinforces its connection with the Iranian military and intelligence apparatus.
According to investigations by the media Iran International, the company may have links to military programs. One of its senior executives, Damoun Beheshtnejad, was previously a manager at Nargostar Sepahan, another chemical facility in Isfahan that suffered an explosion in June 2021.

At that time, The Guardian reported that the complex housed HESA (Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company), a key player in the Islamic Republic's drone program.
The explosion in Isfahan is the latest in an alarming wave of similar incidents that have affected Iran in recent days. In just four days, at least 73 people have lost their lives in a series of explosions in different regions of the country.
Among the most serious cases is the explosion on Saturday, April 26, at the Shahid Rajaei port, in Bandar Abbas, which caused the death of at least 70 people. This incident has been officially attributed to security violations and the misdeclaration of hazardous materials, ruling out sabotage or foreign intervention.

Another incident occurred on Monday at a fuel depot in Zahedan, in the southeast of the country, where a fire caused the death of one person and left two others seriously injured, according to the local human rights organization Hal Vash.
The temporal coincidence of these blasts with the third round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States in Oman has sparked speculation in Israeli and Arab media about possible links or covert causes.
However, Iranian authorities insist that these are isolated incidents related to internal security failures.
Meanwhile, the Iranian population continues to follow with concern the growing number of lethal industrial incidents, in a context of internal political tensions, international pressure, and an aging infrastructure that poses serious challenges to national security. Investigations continue to determine the exact causes of the explosions and prevent further similar episodes.
