Javier Milei will receive the head of the United States Southern Command at Casa Rosada.
The president will work on greater integration with the United States at the regional level
President Javier Milei will hold meetings with Alvin Holsey, head of the United States Southern Command, who begins a three-day official visit to Argentina this Monday. The agenda includes meetings with national authorities, a strategic trip to Ushuaia, and a formal dinner with military representatives.
The arrival of the American admiral strengthens the ties of cooperation between both countries in a geopolitically increasingly relevant context.
An intense agenda in Buenos Aires
Admiral Holsey will arrive this afternoon at Aeroparque along with a delegation composed of members of Donald Trump's administration, including Abigail Dressel, chargé d'affaires in Argentina, and Major General Julian Cheater, director of Strategy, Policy, and Plans.
Upon his arrival, he will be received by officers of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but the official activity will begin on Tuesday. At 10:00 a.m., Holsey will be received at the Libertador Building by the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, and the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Xavier Isaac.

"The Southern Command has an essential role in military cooperation between the United States and Latin America," government sources told Infobae.
After a brief ceremony and the presentation of protocol gifts, Holsey will hold working meetings and share a light lunch with Argentine authorities. Then, at 2:30 p.m., a private audience is scheduled with Javier Milei at Casa Rosada, where both leaders will address topics of strategic interest.
In the evening, Holsey will attend a dinner at the Palacio Bosch, the headquarters of the United States Embassy, where he will reunite with Milei and authorities of the Armed Forces.
Mission in Ushuaia and strengthening strategic ties
Following in the footsteps of his predecessor Laura Richardson, the head of the Southern Command will travel to Ushuaia on Wednesday to strengthen cooperation in the South Atlantic, a region of growing strategic interest.
There, Holsey will tour the Austral Naval Area accompanied by Abigail Dressel, Naval Attaché Kenneth Patrick Ward, and other representatives. Although in 2024 Milei had led a similar event, this time he will remain in Buenos Aires to fulfill his presidential agenda.

During his previous visit, the president had highlighted the importance of the future Integrated Naval Base, a project that seeks to position Argentina and the United States as the gateway to Antarctica.
"This development will be a key logistical hub for the white continent," Milei expressed on that occasion.
Profile of Alvin Holsey: a veteran in the service of defense
Originally from Fort Valley, Georgia, Alvin Holsey began his Navy career in 1988 and has served on numerous warships. Additionally, he has piloted SH-2F Seasprite and SH-60B Seahawk helicopters.
In November 2024, he was promoted to the rank of Admiral and appointed as Commander of the Southern Command. Among his distinctions are the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.
Holsey will conclude his visit on Thursday morning, when his delegation will depart from Aeroparque heading to Miami, thus consolidating a series of meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in defense and security.
