Argentina and the United States signed a security cooperation agreement

In a move that deepens bilateral cooperation, Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, signed a memorandum of understanding on security matters with the United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem on Monday.
The agreement was signed during a meeting led by President Javier Milei at Casa Rosada, which was also attended by Argentine Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein.
The document establishes direct collaboration between both countries in sensitive areas such as customs control, the fight against drug trafficking, terrorism, and organized crime, consolidating an alliance that aims to modernize and strengthen Argentina's operational capabilities in domestic security matters.

Kristi Noem, a central figure in Donald Trump's administration and recognized for her firm stance against illegal immigration, arrived at the Executive headquarters shortly before 10:30, accompanied by a high-level delegation. She was received by Bullrich, and Argentine Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein also participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, Argentina's inclusion in the Visa Waiver Program was discussed, which would allow Argentine citizens to travel to the U.S. for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days. Sources indicate that the official announcement could be made in the coming hours.
Who is Kristi Noem
In the United States, Noem leads the offensive against illegal immigration, overseeing policies for the control, identification, and deportation of foreigners in irregular immigration status, an essential axis of the Trump administration. These actions are carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

On her social media, the official often highlights her firm position against illegal immigration. On her X profile, she has pinned a post from February of this year where she announces "a multimillion-dollar national and international advertising campaign warning undocumented immigrants" to leave the country immediately, "or they will face deportation and the impossibility of returning to the United States."
"This serves as a strong warning to criminal undocumented immigrants not to come to the United States. If they do, they will be pursued and deported. Thank you, Donald Trump, for securing our border and putting the United States first," concludes that post by Noem, the current head of U.S. homeland security. Noem is expected to be in Argentina between Sunday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 29.
Noem's visit adds to the list of Trump administration figures who have arrived in Argentina so far this year. In April, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Southern Command Chief Alvin Holsey were in the country. In May, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also arrived.
