Barcelona sets its sights on Lomónaco, but Independiente wouldn't let him go so easily.

Azulgrana's interest in the defender shakes up the transfer market and puts Rojo on alert, which secured the defender with a multi-million dollar release clause and an improved contract

For several weeks now, Kevin Lomónaco's name, a key pillar for Independiente, has been making waves in the Old Continent. One of the main interested parties is Barcelona, which appears to have him on its radar for this transfer window.

On the program El Chiringuito, it was reported that Barça is looking to add a leader to its backline, and Lomónaco's profile fits perfectly: he is fast, strong, dominates aerial play, and stands out for his composure on the ball and his ability to start plays from the back, attributes highly valued at the blaugrana club. In addition, his release clause would not be an obstacle to a potential transfer.

The Rojo's player would be one of the alternatives in the event of possible departures of Ronald Araújo, who, despite being under contract until mid-2031, is being overlooked in Hansi Flick's plans and could seek an exit, and Andreas Christensen, who has one more year left on his contract but has suffered several consecutive injuries.

For "Cumbia"'s transfer, Independiente is demanding 20 million dollars, and general secretary Daniel Seoane was clear: they won't let him go for a lower amount. "If no interesting offer comes from Europe, he'll stay at Rojo," he stated a few days ago. The club has also renewed his contract until December 2028 and granted him a salary increase that places him among the highest-paid players on the squad.

Meanwhile, Lomónaco was recently drafted to theArgentina National Team for the double round of Qualifiers against Chile and Colombia, although he didn't get any playing time. After the draw against the Cafeteros at the Monumental, he was asked about a possible move to Mexican soccer and replied: "Mexico? Who said that? I don't know anything, but so many things are said... Honestly, right now I'm focused here."
