The Italian club's invitation seeks to inaugurate the stadium remodeling works for Euro 2032, but the tight schedule reduces the chances to a minimum

In recent days, Boca received a special invitation: to play a friendly match against Napoliat the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, a proposal loaded with symbolic value because of the bond that links the Italian institution and the Argentine club through the figure of the star.
The match would also have an institutional objective for the Neapolitans. The intention is for the game to serve as the inaugural event for the stadium's renovation works ahead of Euro 2032, which will have Italy as one of its host countries. The plan, valued at around 150 million euros, includes the construction of a third ring that would make it possible to add about 10,000 seats.

However, the major obstacle is the schedule. The large number of sporting commitments for both teams is compounded by the 2026 World Cup, from June 11 to July 19, which makes it almost impossible to find an available date and set up appropriate travel logistics. For the same reason, another proposal from the Ribera club that emerged in parallel to play a match in the United States was ruled out, more precisely in Miami, against an opponent to be determined.
In this scenario, within the Boca leadership headed by Juan Román Riquelme, a more conservative stance is gaining strength: that the preparation matches be played in Argentina. The preseason will begin on January 2, and the club is already considering organizing friendlies at La Bombonera and even adding one in the provinces, as the most viable option while the idea of the clash with Napoli remains open, although with little chance.
