Boca posted a message of supposed unity after the chants in the match with Lanús

The official account of the Xeneize club published a new message seeking calm ahead of the match against Independiente in the quarterfinals of the Torneo Apertura 2025

The last match between Boca and Lanús sparked a tense atmosphere at the Ribera club. Although the Xeneize team managed to advance on penalties, that qualification wasn't enough to appease the anger of the fans, who expressed their discontent with chants directed at both the players and the Board of Directors led by Juan Román Riquelme.

In the midst of this context, the club published a video on social media that quickly caused controversy. "We cheer," says the message, accompanied by images of the La Boca neighborhood and cheering fans. The publication sparked a wave of divided comments. While some supported the initiative, others criticized both the Football Council and the board.

This Wednesday, from the club's official accounts, a new message was released: "All together, always," was the title that accompanied an embossed image of a packed La Bombonera. The intention was once again to try to reinforce unity among the Xeneize fans, who have been showing divisions, especially after a strong clash between sections of the popular and the plateistas who started the chants against the management.

During the match against Lanús, the chants gained strength toward the end of the game. Part of the crowd chanted phrases like "The Board, the Board, is going to the f...." and "They all must go, not a single one should remain," highlighting the rift between part of the crowd and the leaders. Despite the victory from the penalty spot, the atmosphere of discontent didn't dissipate.

In the post-match press conference, Mariano Herrón, Boca's interim coach, referred to the fans' discontent. "We understand the fans' anger, but we need to work to improve. It's understandable that they didn't leave satisfied," declared the coach, who also recounted how he motivated his players before the penalty shootout, asking them to trust and make decisions with determination.

Riquelme's message to the fans

In recent hours, Juan Román Riquelme spoke publicly for the first time since the incidents against Lanús.  The boss traveled to Paraguay to participate in the 75th FIFA Congress, where he gave a talk with the media.

The idol asked the fans not to be swayed by rumors or criticisms surrounding the team. He emphasized the need to maintain unity and provide full support to the squad in these difficult times.

"I tell them that I love them very much, to enjoy and not let their heads be filled, that's all," he expressed, referring to the voices that, according to him, seek to create instability in the club. This message comes at a key moment in the season, as Boca prepares to face Independiente in the quarterfinals of the tournament, in a match that will be played at La Bombonera next Monday at 9:30 PM.
