After the medical examination that halted the Colombian's transfer, Xeneize reformulated the proposal to Pincha

When everything seemed to indicate that the transfer was definitively falling through, Boca decided to reformulate the proposal for Edwuin Cetré and is keeping the negotiation with Estudiantes de La Plata alive. The club from La Ribera submitted a new offer: a loan with a purchase option, respecting the figures that had been agreed upon for the original operation, close to 6 million gross dollars for the entirety of his registration.
The transfer had been put on hold after an abnormality in one of his knees was detected in the private medical examination carried out by the footballer. That situation caused doubts in the Xeneize board and led to the cancellation of the permanent transfer.
Boca podría sumar a préstamo a Cetré
Far from withdrawing from the negotiation, Boca opted for a middle path: to bring in the 28-year-old winger on loan and evaluate his physical and football response throughout the season. There could even be a purchase option established, subject to the fulfillment of a minimum number of matches played in 2026. This way, Xeneize would minimize risks in the event of a possible relapse and would decide later whether to execute the acquisition.
For Estudiantes, the proposal opens a new scenario. Cetré's contract expires on December 31 and, as of July 1, he could negotiate as a free agent with any club. Accepting a loan would force Juan Sebastián Verón and the board to attempt a prior renewal of the contract in order to prevent the Colombian from playing one year at Boca and then becoming a free agent in January 2027.
Meanwhile, while his future is being decided, Cetré returned to training at the Country in City Bell under Eduardo Domínguez's orders, after having been left out of the last squads due to his imminent departure. If the operation doesn't go through, the coach would consider him for the La Plata classic against Gimnasia at El Bosque.
Cetré será tenido en cuenta por Domínguez
Now the ball is on Pincha's side. In Boca's offices, they are awaiting the response from La Plata to know whether the Colombian will finally join the squad or whether they will have to go back into the market in search of a reinforcement. For now, the saga is adding a new chapter.
Cetré's numbers at Estudiantes
Since his arrival at Pincha at the beginning of 2024, the former DIM forward has played 4517 minutes, spread over 86 matches, in which he has scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists.
