Amid the media conflict involving Mauro Icardi, Wanda Nara, and María Eugenia Suárez, a new voice burst onto the scene. Guido Icardi, the striker's younger brother, spoke on television for the first time on Intrusos and revealed the family tensions that they have been dragging along for more than a decade.
Although Mauro, Guido, and Ivana Icardi are children of the same father and mother, internal disputes marked their childhood and adolescence. "I know him very little, and I think I do not know him at all", Guido stated when he described his current relationship with his brother.
Regarding the family history, he explained: "All of us are from Rosario, but in 2002 we traveled to Gran Canaria, and then in 2011 the internal conflict at my house began. My parents separated, Mauro went to play abroad, and in 2013 I returned to Argentina with my dad."
Since then, contact has been sporadic. "We must have seen each other at some Christmas, birthdays, one time when I was in Switzerland, when he had a Champions League match. We have not talked much", he recalled.
When he was asked about the striker's personality, Guido was blunt: "He has a very strong personality. A very strong character. He is a person who, when something gets into his head, always wants things to be done his way."
He also denied that Wanda Nara has influenced his way of being. "Wanda did not change him. I think that when he reached fame, success... that is when each person shows how he is. He is how you see him on TV. With his sharp responses, with the way he puts people in certain places." He added: "He is very obsessive, always wanting to control things."
In relation to the accusations of violence that Wanda filed against her ex-husband, Guido came to his defense: "My brother may be obsessive about his things, but I do not think he would go so far as to raise his hand against Wanda or have those violent attitudes."
Durante su visita a Buenos Aires el joven se reunió con Wanda y sus hijas
One of the most emotional moments of the interview was when he spoke about his upcoming wedding in Rosario. Guido expressed his desire to bring his entire family together, although Mauro has not yet confirmed his attendance.
"He is invited. He has not replied yet. He doesn't even leave me on read, he ghosts me. It has already been 11 years that we have been in this situation. At the beginning, yes, when I was 19 years old, I took it very personally. I said: "Wow, it is war with Wanda." But now it is as if one gets used to living without his brother," he confessed sadly.
Despite the distance, he made it clear that he doesn't hold a grudge. "I hope he comes to Newell's, we would have him close, in Rosario. I hope he ends his career at Newell's because he really is very fanatical," he maintained.
