The Paraguayan defender leaves with his transfer rights in his possession, and Xeneize gains room to move forward in pursuit of reinforcements from abroad

Although it still hasn't been able to finalize any signings, Boca received a key piece of news in the middle of the transfer market. Bruno Valdez terminated his contract with the club and will free up a foreign-player spot, a situation that gives the leadership headed by Juan Román Riquelme more room to maneuver in negotiations for foreign players.
The Paraguayan center-back, 33 years old, had just finished playing on loan at Cerro Porteño and was supposed to rejoin Xeneize. However, with no place in the sporting plans, the parties negotiated his departure and agreed to the early termination of the contract, which was set to end in December, through financial compensation. This way, Valdez will hold his transfer rights and everything indicates that he will continue his career at Ciclón de Barrio Obrero.
Valdez seguiría en Cerro Porteño
The parting of ways represents good news for the club from La Ribera, which needs to free up spots to strengthen the squad. Currently, the foreign players who occupy a slot are Edinson Cavani (Uruguay), Carlos Palacios (Chile), Ánder Herrera (Spain), and Marcelo Saracchi (Uruguay), the latter on loan at Celtic of Scotland and scheduled to return in June. It should be clarified that Miguel Merentiel (Uruguay) has already been naturalized and doesn't count toward the limit, while Williams Alarcón (Chile) is close to receiving an Argentine passport.
With this outlook, Boca is now formally authorized to move forward for Ángel Romero, a long-standing target of Riquelme who emerges as an attacking alternative after the failed arrival of Marino Hinestroza, and for other South American players who have been offered in recent weeks.
Valdez's numbers at Boca
The Paraguayan arrived at Xeneize at the beginning of 2023 and stayed there for only one year until his loan move to Cerro Porteño. In that short span, he played 34 matches, in which he didn't score goals or provide assists, received a yellow card 7 times and was sent off on 2 occasions. In terms of titles, the defender won only one: the 2022 Argentine Super Cup.
