The government of Catamarca has consolidated mining as the backbone of its economic growth

In recent years, Catamarca has strengthened a development model based on the responsible exploitation of its mineral resources. Under Raúl Jalil's administration, the province implemented a comprehensive mining policy aimed at attracting investment, guaranteeing legal security, and generating quality employment in historically neglected regions.
Jalil publicly keeps that "mining is not going to solve all our problems, but it will give us significant support", a position that he repeats in every international presentation and that defines the pragmatic approach of his administration.
Expansion of projects and arrival of international capital
The most representative milestone of this approach is the start of operations at the lithium plant of the Tres Quebradas (3Q) project in Fiambalá, operated by Zijin-Liex. The inauguration marked a turning point, not only because of the level of investment, but also because of the coordination with the provincial government and the municipalities in the area.
This is complemented by the role of Rio Tinto, which is moving forward with works and new production stages in the Fénix project. Jalil visited the facilities together with diplomatic authorities and highlighted the importance of incorporating cutting-edge technology and global standards to ensure long-term competitiveness and sustainability.

Recovery of provincial control in YMAD
Another decisive step was the recovery of the majority shareholding for the province within YMAD. "We recovered the majority in YMAD for Catamarca. It is a turning point for our development", Jalil stated when he announced the measure. This change strengthens the province's decision-making capacity and guarantees greater participation in mining income.
Economic impact, infrastructure, and local employment
The increase in mining investment is accompanied by direct effects on employment, logistics, and the productive fabric. New road works, power lines, and complementary services are transforming areas in Catamarca's interior, increasing the operational capacity of the projects and boosting regional integration.
Mining also generates a multiplier effect on local suppliers, SMEs, and entrepreneurs, allowing the economy to diversify and creating opportunities in sectors such as transportation, lodging, gastronomy, metalworking, drilling, and environmental services.
International projection and strategic positioning
Catamarca participates actively in international mining meetings, presenting its lithium and copper potential to investors, embassies, and business chambers. These actions seek to expand the arrival of capital and promote a solid image of institutional stability and openness to the world.
