Fortunately for decent fans, and unfortunately for "Chiqui" Tapia and the entire corrupt AFA, Estudiantes keeps adding titles. El Pincha came back in the match against Platense and was crowned in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The match would start out extremely even, but the team from La Plata would have the first clear chance. In the 7th minute, Cetré would put together a play down the left wing that would end with a powerful left-footed shot, which would be neutralized by a great save from goalkeeper Losas.
Beyond that chance, the opening minutes would offer little to highlight, standing out mainly for the fouls by both teams, especially on the Calamar's side. One of them was Tomás Silva's elbow on Tobio Burgos, which earned him a yellow card, the same card that Schor would see moments later for a late challenge on Piovi.
Meanwhile, Estudiantes would not escape bookings either. In the 31st minute, Piovi himself would commit a completely unnecessary kick on Schor in the middle of the field and would be sanctioned by the referee.
Shortly afterward, Platense would pick up two more yellow cards for fouls by Mainero and Saborido, both on Cetré. From this last infringement came the other notable chance of a poor first 45 minutes: a deflected header by Mainero himself that Losas would parry on pure reflex to keep it scoreless.
Already in the second half, Platense would come out flying. In the 48th minute, Zapiola would fulfill the inexorable law of the former player with a powerful shot near the edge of the box that Muslera did not manage to stop, thus putting Calamar ahead. After the goal, Walter Zunino would make the first change to avoid a possible red card: Lozano for Saborido.
