This Friday, the Grand Prix of Baku will get underway, marking the seventeenth event on the Formula 1 calendar, where Franco Colapinto will try to score points again as he did in 2024. For the Argentine driver, the race also comes at a key moment, since he could be getting closer to securing his seat for the 2026 season.
In a conversation with Juan Fossaroli for ESPN, the driver from Pilar made it clear that he doesn't obsess over what happens off the track: "You can't control what happens around you. That outside noise isn't influencing me much. You have to know how to control it."
Colapinto está expectante de lo que sucesa con su futuro en la F1
Colapinto admitted the pressure surrounding his current situation, but emphasized that he remains focused on making progress: "There are high expectations and people who want me to do well, and when things don't go well, there are criticisms. We're trying to do our best to improve."
Regarding Alpine's performance in 2025, he was candid: "We're not in the position we want, we haven't scored points, and we're last; it's not a good year. However, personally, the important thing is to keep improving with the car and to be more consistent, and I'm gradually finding that."
The memory of Baku 2024 remains present for Colapinto, since he scored his first points in the top category with Williams there: "It was very positive to perform so well last year on a circuit like Baku, one of the most challenging on the calendar. I'm happy to be back here; we'll see what happens next weekend."

Finally, he anticipated the difficulties the street circuit will present: "It'll be more difficult than last year in terms of performance because of the long straight. Our car isn't the best, and on a street circuit with many bumps, the car is very stiff and doesn't handle them well. We'll try to find the details and maximize the opportunities that arise."
