The case of Noelia Castillo returned to the center of controversy after it became known that one of the doctors linked to the Catalan Guarantee and Evaluation Commission, the body that intervened in the authorization of her euthanasia, was sued for his public adherence to the pro-euthanasia movement. The revelation came from a journalistic publication that exposes the background of Josep Maria Busquets Font, author of a 2021 text in which he defended a position favorable to assisted deaths, before later joining as secretary of the same body
.According to that article, the Spanish Foundation of Christian Lawyers used this writing as documentary evidence in a criminal complaint for alleged prevarication filed with the High Court of Justice of Catalonia. There, he argued that Busquets Font was not a neutral technical actor, but a figure with a previous ideological stance on euthanasia, which fueled suspicions about the impartiality of the commission.
The controversy still escalated with statements made by Noelia's father's lawyer, who said that the young woman had asked for a six-month delay to reflect on her euthanasia, but that this request was rejected.
