Córdoba: Bv. San Juan has been fully reopened after the collapse in the Güemes neighborhood

The Costanera Norte in Villa Cabrera was also opened after the roadwork carried out there

The Municipality of Córdoba reported that since Wednesday, traffic has been enabled along the entire block of Bv. San Juan between Arturo M. Bas and Corro. The opening includes the south roadway, where the last preventive barrier had been maintained. Vehicle flow thus resumes its usual route in the downtown corridor.

The full reopening took place one day after the northbound lane was normalized, which had been closed since May for safety reasons. Inspectors verified the stability of the area before removing the barriers. The operation was coordinated with the Traffic Police to organize the initial circulation.

The restrictions originated after the fall of materials from the María Reina V building, which resulted in a fatality. Once the removal of the lateral cladding was completed, immediate risk was ruled out. The area had been permanently monitored by municipal personnel.

Shopkeepers and residents welcomed the measure because they regain the circulation of customers and services. During the closure, sales dropped considerably according to local surveys. Passage was also enabled on Costanera Norte at the height of Obispo Videla del Pino after patching works.

How the work and investigation will continue

The building's consortium must submit a new remediation work plan for municipal approval. There is no defined deadline for the submission of the project. The enforcement authority will review the deadlines and technical responsibilities.

"The risk has been reduced; now the work will focus on the house that collapsed," officials from Palacio 6 de Julio stated. The Municipality indicated that it will continue inspecting the area until the case file is fully solved. The Private Works and Civil Defense departments will carry out periodic inspections.

The task of the Municipality will be to ensure that the building's consortium submits and executes a remediation work plan that guarantees the structural safety of the property. It must also permanently supervise the progress of these works, conduct technical inspections, and ensure compliance with current regulations. Additionally, it will continue collaborating with the Judiciary in the investigation of the collapse and will strengthen the oversight of other constructions in the city to prevent new incidents.
