There is an area in the northwestern part of the city where families survive in inhumane conditions without access to basic services. While the surrounding neighborhoods received urban development works, this settlement was excluded from any improvement by an arbitrary political decision. This is El Sauce, a forgotten enclave where residents report that the municipality has condemned them to misery and mud.
The president of the neighborhood center, Daniel Monjes, explained that the streets are impassable for emergency vehicles because of the mud. The neighborhood representative pointed out that water from the higher plots floods the homes, creating a scenario of serious health risk. The lack of pavement forces the residents themselves to fill the potholes with rubble so they can leave their homes during storms.
The residents state that they filed numerous administrative complaints with CPC Colón without obtaining concrete responses from the authorities. The main demand focuses on the construction of storm drains and the provision of drinking water to guarantee minimum hygiene. The absence of urban planning condemns hundreds of taxpayers to live amid mud and pollution without definitive solutions.

Health system collapse and state neglect
Garbage collection was interrupted 5 years ago because of the narrowness of the streets, which prevents service trucks from entering. This situation forces families to dispose of their waste in an adjacent storm channel that ends up overflowing in the summer season. The infectious hotspot is worsened by the lack of regular cleaning of the drains, which should be maintained by municipal crews.
