Córdoba: he was driving a stolen truck and tried to bribe the police

A 29-year-old man who was driving on the Córdoba–Rosario highway in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle was detained

A 59-year-old man who was driving a stolen truck was arrested after attempting to bribe the Córdoba Police. The incident took place near Río Segundo on the Córdoba-Rosario highway.

According to the security force, the Mercedes Benz truck in which the individual was traveling was also seized, as it had been stolen the previous day in Buenos Aires province.

Both the apprehended individual and the vehicle were taken to the police station, remaining at the disposal of the judicial authority.

Fines imposed by Córdoba Highway Police increase

The amounts of fines imposed by the Highway Police have increased again due to the recent rise in the price of regular gasoline in Córdoba, as published this Thursday by the provincial government in the Official Gazette.

Traffic Law 8,560 establishes the use of Fixed Units (UF), which are equivalent to the lowest retail price of one liter of regular gasoline.

According to the Federation of Fuel and Related Distributors of the Center (Fecac), the price of one liter of regular gasoline as of April 5 was $1,336.

Fine amounts

  • Minor fines. For minor infractions, drivers face penalties ranging from 20 to 100 UF (loss of 0 to 2 points). From now on, these range from $26,720 to $133,600. Example: driving while smoking.
  • Serious infractions. The range is from 100 to 200 UF (loss of 2 to 5 points), costing between $133,600 and $267,200. Examples: not driving with headlights on.
  • Very serious. These range from 200 to 400 UF (loss of 5 to 20 points) and reach $534,400. Cases: running red lights; driving against traffic or exceeding the speed limit.
  • Maximum. The maximum penalties are those between 1,200 and 2,000 UF. Prices range from $1,603,200 to $2,672,000.
