The city of Formosa once again became the scene of political violence this Tuesday, when Peronist and Libertarian activists clashed in the central Plaza San Martín amid the campaign for the upcoming legislative elections on October 26. The conflict, which began over the use of public space, ended in blows and resulted in the assault of a La Libertad Avanza (LLA) activist by Fabián Rodríguez, former councilman of the Partido Justicialista (PJ) and a well-known union leader close to dictator Gildo Insfrán.
Videos shared on social media show how the groups—identified by pink vests for the Peronists and purple for the Libertarians—quickly went from shouting to physical aggression. The footage shows Rodríguez confronting LLA activists and later participating in the shoving and hitting.

Libertarian representatives reported that the incident was not an isolated event. According to witnesses and victims, attacks on La Libertad Avanza activists are repeated every time they try to set up gazebos or share their proposals in public spaces. "They order us to remove our things, they fine us for parking, everything is harassment," said one of the affected women, who stated that the aggression began days earlier, when they were cornered by groups aligned with the ruling party on the downtown pedestrian street.
The violent confrontation in the square occurred "after 1:00 p.m.", said the complainant, who identified the aggressor as Rodríguez, a union activist linked to Governor Insfrán. After the incident, the Libertarians immediately reported what happened to Security Minister Patricia Bullrich, who reportedly contacted the activists to ensure their safety and coordinate police intervention. Ultimately, the group chose to leave the area "to avoid further escalation".

The incident adds to other similar events recorded in recent weeks in the province. Hours before the attack in Plaza San Martín, another Libertarian activist reported being beaten by a group of Peronists while filming party activity on the central pedestrian street. "They saw me filming, they knocked my phone down and beat me up," the young man said, who ended up with a bloodied left eye and had to be hospitalized for facial injuries and eye damage.
The video of the beating went viral on social media and was shared by President Javier Milei, who condemned the violent actions and blamed the Kirchnerist opposition for what happened. The assaulted young man stated that the strikers wore vests and carried flags of the Frente para la Victoria, and even recognized among them officials and activists from the PJ.
In a later video, the victim directly questioned the provincial leader: "Is this the democracy you want, Governor?" he said with visible indignation.
