In a conversation with La Derecha Diario, economist Agustín Monteverde, the second candidate for senator for the City of Buenos Aires from La Libertad Avanza, addressed a broad political and economic agenda: from the personal reasons that led him to join Javier Milei's project to the structural reforms he considers essential to consolidate the Government's direction.
In the interview, Monteverde analyzed the economic stabilization process, strongly criticized the opposition for its attempt to "undermine the Executive's governability", defended the reform of the Penal Code, and highlighted the president's leadership, whom he described as "unique" for his conviction, courage, and determination to transform Argentina.
"I couldn't stay on the sidelines of the change Milei is driving"
Economist Agustín Monteverde, known for his career in the financial sector, explained that his entry into politics is due to a personal and moral commitment to Javier Milei's project. "I already had a commitment to Javier for years. Seeing the example of the ministers and officials who are giving their all to transform the country made me realize that I couldn't remain indifferent to that", he stated.
Monteverde emphasized that he decided to formally join La Libertad Avanza after, interestingly, receiving another political offer that sought to ally with the ruling party. "It was almost a message from heaven", he commented with a laugh. He also stressed that Argentina is experiencing "a historic, unique opportunity to become the great country it once was", but warned that in order to achieve this, the Government needs "legislative muscle and capable leaders in Congress."

Three key reforms: labor, tax, and pension
When asked about the most urgent transformations to consolidate the Government's economic direction, Monteverde was blunt: "The three crucial reforms are labor, tax, and pension. These are the pillars that will allow Argentina to grow and regain competitiveness."
He also highlighted the need to move forward with the reform of the Penal and Procedural Code, recently presented in Ezeiza, which seeks "to put an end to the revolving door and toughen penalties for the most heinous crimes." In that regard, he criticized the media for focusing "on photos and gossip" instead of discussing substantive proposals.
"The country is almost stabilized, there's very little left"
For Monteverde, the stage of economic stabilization "is almost complete," although he acknowledged that there were delays due to "the massive attack" from the opposition in Congress." "They tried to overturn decrees, block laws, and even talked about replacing the president. That forced the market to be dried up to maintain stability, but Argentina has shown that it can grow even in the midst of the biggest adjustment in its history," he explained.
Looking ahead, he was optimistic: "With lower taxes and modern labor legislation, Argentina is going to be the country in the world with the most growth."

"The opposition tried to undermine the Executive's governability"
Monteverde was harsh regarding the behavior of the opposition blocs, whom he accused of "seeking to prevent the Executive from governing". According to him, "that political establishment, so closely linked with business, union, and social movement sectors, is doomed to disappear."
He also targeted the traditional press: "Today there's not much difference between La Nación and Página 12. They all publish the same thing. But people have already realized it and fewer and fewer are being deceived."
"Milei's project is based on the defense of life, liberty, and property"
Regarding the president's leadership, Monteverde was categorical: "Milei is unique. He has a conviction, determination, and courage that I haven't seen in anyone. Fortunately, we have this figure, because only someone like that can face the web of interests that seeks to stop change".
The economist concluded that La Libertad Avanza represents "an entirely different worldview, based on trust in the individual and not in the State." He concluded: "After 100 years of decline, the time has come to restore Argentina's greatness."
