Although she is serving a house arrest sentence, Cristina Kirchner was seen out in public during an authorized outing for a medical check-up.

In an Argentina that has decided to embrace change and transparency under the management of the National Government, the impunity of the past begins to crumble, although certain privileges for the political elite still persist. In recent hours, civil society expressed its outrage following the viralization of audiovisual material that exposes the laxity with which Cristina Kirchner is being treated, who is serving a six-year prison sentence for the Vialidad case.

The focus of the conflict originated on the TikTok platform, where a user shared images showing the former president—detained under the regime of house arrest since June 2025—getting out of a vehicle and walking freely on the sidewalk in the neighborhood of Constitución.

What generated a real stir on social media was that the convicted individual was moving without any kind of uniformed police escort, an image that many users interpreted, from a place of indignation, as a demonstration of the freedom still enjoyed by the former head of state between 2007 and 2015.

Entering into the details of the day, the incident allegedly occurred this Wednesday. According to the record of the neighbor who captured the video, the populist leader left her residence at San José 1111 at 9:15 and returned at 14:07. Although judicial sources confirmed that the outing was for a "medical check-up", the deployment was still striking: she was accompanied by four men dressed in civilian clothes, including her historical bodyguard, Diego Carbone.

From her circle, they attempted to downplay the situation by clarifying that people under house arrest, when going for medical check-ups, do so without police escort, only requiring authorization from the judiciary. However, the defiant attitude of the Peronist leader remains intact; upon getting out of the car, she took the time to greet with her left hand a woman who was shouting words of admiration before entering the building where she is confined.

This episode is not isolated. Just one day earlier, on Tuesday, the convicted individual stepped out onto her balcony to rally the columns of the Federal University March that diverted to her home. It is worth noting that her bunker at San José 1111 is located less than two blocks from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the UBA, a hub of constant political activity opposing the government of Javier Milei.

While the former president tries to maintain her political relevance from confinement, the Federal Oral Court 2, led by Judge Rodrigo Giménez Uriburu, is moving forward firmly. The court is awaiting a response from the Supreme Court of Justice to proceed with the seizure of assets, a measure aimed at recovering for the State the properties of Cristina Kirchner and her partner Lázaro Báez—who also received a six-year sentence—obtained through the fraudulent awarding of road works in Santa Cruz. Despite the defense presenting an extraordinary appeal this week, the determination of the judiciary, supported by the new climate of the era that the country is experiencing, seems to be finally heading towards the restoration of the patrimonial damage caused by Kirchnerism.
