Daniel Mollo, critical of Riquelme: 'Boca has no direction and Román doesn't allow himself to be helped'
The journalist expressed his concern about the club's current situation and targeted the president, who, according to him, only listens to 'his brother and his friends.'
Journalist and commentator Daniel Mollo harshly analyzed the deep crisis that Boca is going through and directly pointed to the club's president, Juan Román Riquelme, as one of the main people responsible for the club's institutional and sporting struggles. During his appearance on Crónica TV, Mollo held nothing back: "What's happening to Boca? What's happening is that it has no direction".
La opinión de Mollo sobre el presente de Boca
For the historic club commentator, the club "has entered a marambo" (a colloquial way to describe a chaos or confusion with no way out), and can't find the right path. "It has a president, the best player after Maradona, who listens to no one except his brother and his friends", he claimed, directly referencing the inner circle surrounding Riquelme in his administration.
Mollo also questioned the people around the executive: "They tell him that everything he does is right, and there's no one in this world, except God, who does everything right".
Another point he criticized was the choice of the current coaching staff led by Miguel Ángel Russo, in his second spell at the club. "Everything was chosen poorly. In this case, painfully, we see a Russo whom life has passed by, as happens to all of us", he said.

Without mincing words, he added: "Ask Russo's family members to tell him: 'Old man, stay at home. You're not up for getting into this mess that is Boca'".
The journalist also lamented that the club doesn't currently have a football figure like Riquelme once was on the field: "In 2007, Russo won the Copa Libertadores with an exuberant Riquelme, one of the best the world of football has ever seen. Today, that Riquelme is not on the field".
Finally, he summed up his diagnosis with a forceful phrase: "It has no direction and Riquelme doesn't allow himself to be helped. That is the essential reason why Boca is struggling".

Mollo's statements add to a wave of internal and external criticism of the current leadership, amid the worst winless streak in the club's history.
