Bandai Namco has confirmed the release of GAKU-RAN, the second downloadable content for Digimon Story: Time Stranger, the RPG developed by Media.Vision. The DLC will be available starting January 22 and will expand the game experience with a new narrative line, characters with greater prominence and the incorporation of new Digivolution routes.

The announcement reinforces the company's strategy of expanding the title's content through downloadable episodes that deepen the narrative universe and add gameplay options, keeping the community's interest active.

An unpublished story focused on Hiroko Sagisaka

The narrative axis of GAKU-RAN will be placed on Hiroko Sagisaka, a secondary character from the main story who, until now, has fulfilled a supporting role. The new episode will grant her her own prominence through a series of exclusive missions that explore her past, her motivations and her connection with the Digital World.

This expansion will make it possible to discover new facets of the character and will provide additional context to the events of the base game. According to Bandai Namco, the missions will be integrated organically into the overall progression, offering unique challenges and narrative situations that expand the background of the Digimon Story universe.

New Bancho Digivolution routes and greater strategic variety

In addition to the narrative content, the GAKU-RAN DLC will add new Mega Digivolution routes focused on Bancho-type Digimon, one of the categories most valued by fans of the saga.

With this update, players will be able to obtain and digivolve:

  • BanchoLillymon
  • BanchoStingmon
  • BanchoGolemon
  • BanchoMamemon

These Digimon are characterized by an aesthetic inspired by Japanese school gangs and by specific abilities that expand the tactical possibilities in turn-based battles. The incorporation of these evolutions directly impacts team composition and strategic depth, both in story mode and in other challenges in the game.

How to access the DLC and purchase options

GAKU-RAN will follow Bandai Namco's usual distribution scheme. Players who have purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of Digimon Story: Time Stranger will receive the DLC at no additional cost.

Meanwhile, those who have the standard version will be able to access the content in two ways:

  • Individual purchase of the DLC
  • Acquisition through the Season Pass

This model seeks to ensure that all users can access the new content, while offering additional benefits to those who opted for the more complete editions from launch.

Impact on the community and continuity of the game

The arrival of this second DLC aims to keep the community cohesive, avoiding fragmentation among players and expanding the content without altering the game's overall balance. The combination of additional story and new Digivolutions reinforces the proposal of Digimon Story: Time Stranger as an RPG in constant expansion.

With GAKU-RAN, Bandai Namco continues to bet on extending the title's lifespan, offering relevant content both for those who prioritize the narrative and for players focused on strategy and the customization of their teams.
